Waiting

Waiting is a difficult process for most people. We’re frequently conditioned to always keep moving, and we usually want to see results as soon as possible. Waiting is a hard because most of are out of touch with being in the moment. When we are left with no choice but to wait, our minds want to quickly fill that void with some distraction. Perhaps it’s an imposed pressure to remain active, or a habit to distract ourselves from thinking too much and risk allowing ourselves to think of all the negative outcomes that could transpire.
There is great value in being able to still the mind from an overflowing abundance of thoughts. The all-too-familiar routine of making ourselves intentionally occupied and busy deprives our minds to find the necessary peace that comes from taking a moment (or longer) to just breathe and recharge a bit. Often times, it takes more quite a bit of time to reset ourselves, especially if we feel anxious, irritated, or depressed more often than not.
If we’re running away from something, intentionally or not, it can take some time to work out those feelings and get on the right track. This can be especially frustrating because we may be stubborn to change if we’re holding onto some benefits from being involved with a busy life, such as good pay, peer recognition, and a sense of being useful and respected.
It can be humbling to address underlying problems that may be lurking beneath, but the needs of the body and spirit demand to be heard and won’t be solved by getting involved in a busy schedule, a regular habit of drinking, or other activities that may be detrimental to health.
Waiting can be exhausting. Even if we’re on the right track, we often just need to wait for the process to play itself out properly to the results that we are looking for. What can be difficult is actually knowing if that waiting is going to pay off or not. As Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.” We need to be conscious and aware of any changes that may need to be made to ensure that are endeavors and the waiting will be fruitful.
However, nothing worth fighting for comes easy. We all know that if anything were easy, then everyone would do it. A life of unique pursuits, discipline, and a strong desire that the results are going to be worth the trials and tribulations will produce a deep satisfaction and sense of accomplishment.
The feeling from accomplishing a long-desired goal is indescribable. Always keep the reasons for accomplishing your challenges close. Sometimes waiting is all you can do. A busy mind is usually quick to make rash decisions. A calm mind better prepared to make clear choices when necessary.
