Somewhere New

Getting caught up in the daily grind can be exhausting. When we’re working 9-5, or a similar schedule, life can seem pretty gray at times. It’s great to have time off during the weekend, or plan a vacation for some period of time, but it can be even more depressing to come back on Monday and start it all over again.

Trying something different or going somewhere new on a regular basis is helpful when it comes to keeping variety, life, and spontaneity alive and well. While it’s not always practical to make everyday an adventure, it’s a good idea to try and make an effort to keeping your spirit alive by feeding it with some kind of new stimulus, mentally, physically, or spiritually. Every journey doesn’t necessarily need to be a distance voyage.

What’s interesting about going somewhere new is that it isn’t always directly related to getting a process flowing, but it most often helps. For me, when I look at a photograph I’ve taken, I’m able to instantly recall the location, the events that happened, and the feelings I had during that day. I’m simply brought to a different time and place by looking into a photograph. At other times, I look at a way the photograph was taken and the emotion or focus that it‘s made to convey and I’m able to change my mindset from something that is otherwise ordinary, into something that bring my personal perspective to light.

Life can run an interesting paradox. We like the familiarity and comfort that comes from having a schedule. However, if we’re used to doing the same things everyday, then we’re going to exhaust from boredom. Life is best lived when a perfect balanced is achieved. This is noticeably true in every aspect of life. The expression, “Too much of a good thing is a bad thing” is a perfect description of this.

We all have something to learn. There’s not a single person in this world that has their act together. If it seems that way, then it is simply an act. Why do people love to see celebrities mess up? It makes them seem more like a “normal person.” People feel better when they realize that people with massive success and fame are just like the rest of us.

It’s the process of life - we keep moving forward. If we had a peak to rest upon, then we’d have nowhere to go. It’s not until Heaven that we find our rest. Until then, we have to make the most of this life and keep diligent so as to make the most of it.
